Andrea Robinson
My work takes family histories, memories and artefacts as a starting point - birds often appear. I work with a range of screen print techniques, including print-collage, photo-stencil and hand-painted monoprint. These postcard-sized versions have been created specifically for Water Street Gallery and are part of a new series of miniature prints (none larger than 10 x 10 cm, on paper no bigger than 19 x 19 cm) provisionally called Handed-down histories which incorporate maps of the place where my father’s family settled for several generations, found images, hand-drawn elements and family photographs.
